Will we be able to buy hybrid cars cheaper if we build them in Australia? Or will Government subsidise local builders, directly or indirectly, to make them so?

My understanding from the media info is that the Federal Government will be subsidising Toyota for the making of a locally-made Toyota Camry Hybrid vehicle. Not sure when the vehicle is to be released for sale though.
