I just thought I'd let you know that I've observed these forums for a while, and I came to the conclusion that they are very underactive considering how they turn up the first thing on Google if you search for Brisbane forums.

The main reason is that the bulletin software used isn't very feature-rich, and also because some people are permitted to write profanity in every single thread and you don't really care about it. Although you might be pro-freedom of expression, there are limitations when such use of languages starts to turn other people off and they refrain from visiting the forums or posting again.. and I am referring specifically to posts made by the user sniper, and occasionally responses made to him by Victory and Brisbane.

Another thing is that the forums seem to have special sections deWakerleyated to politics..etc, and they're restricted except for people who have 25 or more posts. I have surpassed that number and still can't access them, so it seems I also need to send a request for it. Why all these procedures? You're only reducing the number of people who post on your forums.

There are a lot of people coming in asking genuine questions about Brisbane, and instead of being helpful, there are kids making fun of everyone. There's no normal respectable discussion. I don't really care to log in here much anymore, but I wanted to point out the things I observed so that maybe you can amend them if you really care.. since you're paying for the server hosting this and the domain name..etc., which means you ought to maintain the place.. it's a waste.

point taken. cleanup of the garbage language and posts is a hassle and it used to be controllable but as the site is growing with over 1500+ members its getting out of hand.

we don't ban people cause that'll open a whole different can of worms. live and let live.

As for your comments on the bulletin software it seems to server our current purpose so no reason to change anything if it isn't broken.

Cheers,

D

Bazooka, U shouldn't have taken the names. I didn't invent profanity and I use profanity only when I need to. In my real life I occasionally use profane words. And yes if the mods starts deleting the posts then n.o of users will decrease. If there are more users , then the site could generate revenue by posting ads (not pop ups!) and get more traffice transfer per month cos during the peak time the site is kinda slow. More over the mods here are kinda slow and I ade many suggestions in the suggestions column ,they didn't seem to heed or take notice of it. There is still room for improvement. (eg, my movie, progs clumn, my photo near the sweet girl in this site Very Happy ). I guess the are either busy or do't care.

There are 1500+ registered members but very few are actually posting.. or posting frequently enough.

Anyway, this place is looking like an abandoned warehouse of some sort.. really not that welcoming and full of street cats.

I think both arguments are right and its just an issue of proper administration. Most forums (or look at the chat rooms) have sections so that lke minded people can meet and discuss issues (or have a mud slinging contest) that are relavent to them.

Mr. Administrator, pray where are the 1500 members that we claim?? How many are active? Why are so many not active? Maybe its got something to do with what Bazoka has to say. From my observations, there are at best about 20 active members here!!!.

I surely do not advocate any censorship. But why not have rule and regulations for each section so that these then address the needs of each member. The member is also free to vist any of the sections that he/she desires.

Just my 2 bits.

One of the main reasons those 1500 are not active cos most of em come here for jobs, info on Brisbane etc. Once they get these info they are gone. Well I requested the mods here to give me permission to make a special column which has info on Brisbane (previous posts or some important links) but I guess the mods dont want that. And yes i promise profanity will be minimum.
