I put on a similiar post on this forum when I first got here a few months ago. In fact, it was almost word-for-word what you wrote! Nobody responded to mine either....

Maybe instead of just expecting people to queue up asking to meet up etc with you, why dont you get to know people on the forums and engage in conversation.

That way you will get to know the many nice people on here and possibly make friends.

It cuts both ways

Hi Jim

How did your first weekend go? I am a young lawyer about to move to Brisbane and am getting a little nervous.... It would be good to hear how its been so far and possibly meet once I get there?
It's a game of two halves

gatsby meet Photonico, Photonico meet gatsby, glad i could help Smile You're both also welcome to come on the 3rd of March'ish it is open to all.

Brisbane tends to be a hard place to meet people but if you're willing to make an effort I’m sure it'll be reciprocated.

Best of luck and welcome.

So, where do you come from, Photonico?
I know how hard it is to meet people here, but I am on the forums a lot and I would love to come to this Forum meeting. Has the date been decided for sure? Is it March3rd? And what is the location?

Welcome Photonico!

I too have been on these boards looking to meet up with people. It is a difficult city to just go out and find people to hang with.

Have you had a chance to get out and see much of the city, or was your first week spent mostly chained to your desk?

well... sorry i couldn't reply
just really working a lot and i still have to organize myself with a pc at home Sad
first week was... let say ok, but i had a couple of day in which i was asking to myself why am i here, i guess it happen to everybody...
i am now i bit more familiar with the place... i guess at the begining you just miss all the confort that you have at home
but i was very lucky and i have met really nice people at work, i have started going out with them
i can finally give an answer to all of the question that i was asking to this forum before to live london... yes, this is the right place to save some money, generally speaking is much more cheaper than london!

gangster... you are probably right, but sometimes you hope that things could be easier...

Hi, gatsby i am italian, but i have spent the past 5 year in london, and i am probably going back there after this... hope to see you the 3rd

jacky, do we know the location of this meeting?

hi, hiryfairy... this place is ok for a while, obviously the problem is it's changing life and friends... i am up to meet you when you get here, just let me know

Hi Hetherjw, yes last weekend i went straight to the beach... this week we have organized a few things with collegues, clubs, dinners, and a tour in the desert... things are getting more intresting Smile

Jim
